The Battery Computer System, gun direction, AN/GYK-29V(BCS), was an automated data processor and communications terminal that interfaces directly with TACFIRE. It was the successor of the BDU. The major units of BCS are:

  • battery computer unit (BCU)
  • power distribution unit (PDU)
  • 1 to 12 gun display units (GDU)

BCS improved firing data computation and data transmission between the fire direction center (FDC)and the guns at battery level.
